Naan pizzas are all the rage on search engines like Pinterest. There are so many options, it’s incredible. For those of you who don’t know why it’s called Naan, here is a definition found in Wikipedia that I find quite interesting:

“Naan as known today originates from the Indian Subcontinent. The most familiar and readily available varieties of naan in Western countries are those from the Indian subcontinent. In Iran, from which the word originated,[8]nân (Persian: نان‎) does not carry any special significance, as it is merely the generic word for any kind of bread, as well as in other West Asian nations or ethnic groups in the region.
The form naan has a widespread distribution, having been borrowed in a range of languages spoken in Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent, where it usually refers to a kind of flatbread (tandyr nan). The spelling naan is first attested in 1979,[7] and has since become the normal English spelling.

I almost always have Naan bread at home because it is so easily accessible in our supermarkets now. They come in a variety of sizes, making it easy to create recipes like the pizza I am sharing with you today. I decided I would create my own version, Latin style. As you all know I love to twist recipes and this one is a sure winner!

A huge plus when it comes to pizzas is that you can customize the toppings as you’d like making the possibilities endless.

So let’s go ahead and check out this recipe!

Ingredients:

1/2 lb ground pork (85%)
2 tbs corn or canola oil
2 tbs soy sauce
2 tbs lime juice
2 tbs adobo Goya
1 tbs ground oregano
3 tbs chopped cilantro, separated
Tomato sauce, to taste
Grated mozzarella cheese, to taste
Goya Manzanilla green olives, chopped and to taste
Pack of personal size, store bought, naan bread

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400º degrees.

In a skillet over medium heat, add oil.

Once oil is hot, add the pork and stir for about 5 minutes.

Add soy sauce, lime juice, adobo, oregano, and 2 tbs of the cilantro.

Cook until the pork is completely cooked through and no longer secreting liquid and only the oil remains. Set aside.

Note: If you like a crispier crust, toast the naan before topping it.

Place naan bread on a flat surface. Prepare the toppings desired.

Begin assembling the pizzas by spreading the desired amount of tomato sauce, followed by half the amount of desired mozzarella. Top with desired amount of pork and then the second half of mozzarella.

In this recipe I topped with olives but you can top with any other ingredients you’d like. Some suggestions are caramelized onions, mushrooms, etc.

Place on top of baking pan with a cookie cooling rack.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes and enjoy!

  1. Hi. I just tried this, but didn’t have naan bread, so I used pita bread. Also, the tomato sauce combined with the meat didn’t appeal to me, so I left it out and loved it that way. I also only had bocconcini cheese, and due to a calorie restriction, I used 5 on top only, then added mushrooms, jalapeños and green olives. I did find it a little too salty, so would cut the soy sauce down next time, but otherwise I loved it. Thanks for the delicious recipe!
