Easy Homemade French Fries

Super simple and easy french fries that will have you thinking they are from your favorite fast food restaurant!

Ingredients

  • 6 large russet potatoes
  • Corn or vegetable oil enough for frying

Instructions

  • Peel the potatoes and rinse.
  • Cut each potato lengthwise into 4 pieces or wedges.
  • Working with each piece or wedge, slice the potato in one direction and then in the other direction to form the shape of a french fry. Continue on to the rest of the potatoes.
  • As you finish slicing them, place them in a deep bowl.
  • Once done cutting the fries, fill the bowl with water and stir in the fries and toss that water. Fill bowl with water again and cover the bowl. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  • Once ready to fry, drain the water and lay the fries on a plate with paper towels underneath to suck the water. You may dab the top of the potatoes with a paper towel as well.
  • Place enough oil in a large skillet about 1 inch and a half deep, you want the fries to not be over crowded. Heat to medium-high.
  • Once the oil is hot add the potatoes to fry. Make sure they are laying as even as possible in the skillet, then let them be until you notice they are starting to get a golden color. Then you can stir them a bit to make sure they all cook evenly and get color evenly.
  • Once ready, lay them on another paper towel lined plate.
  • Add salt or any other garnishes desired and enjoy!
