Ingredients:

For the tomatoes:
5 medium sized tomatoes, the riper the better
1 teaspoon minced garlic
6 large basil leaves rolled up and sliced thin
2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste

For the bread:
One loaf of Italian or even french bread. Sometimes you can find the loafs are sold already sliced in the bakery section of the supermarket so save yourself some time there!
Butter
Garlic powder

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In the meantime, spread both sides of the slices of bread with butter and lay them on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes and flip over. Sprinkle a small amount of garlic powder over the bread and place back in the oven for another 5 minutes.

While bread is baking, prepare the tomatoes. Quarter the tomatoes and take out all the seeds, give a good rinse. Chop the tomatoes into small pieces.

In a bowl, mix the tomatoes, minced garlic, basil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper.

Place in the refrigerator until bread is ready.

I like to serve the bread in one dish and the tomatoes in another so that the tomatoes don’t turn the bread soggy if sitting on there too long.

Enjoy this Classic Italian Bruschetta, it is honestly one of the best Italian Treats!
