My love of chicken wings is a very known fact if you follow my blog. Today I get to share my latest recipe, Pickle Brined Air Fryer Chicken Wings. I am soooo excited to share this one after testing it several times. I feel this is the perfect combination of ingredients.

I came up with the idea of bringing you this recipe because I love Chick-fil-a sandwiches and they brine their chicken in pickle juice. I thought to myself, why not brine wings in pickle juice and season with adobo? You know, my Latin twist to things? I wanted to see if the pickle juice and adobo would clash in any way and surprisingly, they didn’t at all.

The first time, I brined the chicken wings for 18 hours. I was worried the wings were going be inedible but to my surprise, they were not at all. The had a super strong pickle taste but not to the point where I could not eat them. They were actually delicious!

I also tested different brine times. After making it for friends and family, I settled on a 5 hour brine and this is the one I get to share with you. Plus with just 3 ingredients, it’s super simple. They bring all the flavor you need or could ever want. I hope you like it!

Ingredients

  • 24 chicken wings, cut in 3 and tip discarded renders 48 pieces
  • 2 20 oz jars of Claussen Dill pickles in the refrigerated section
  • 1 tbs olive oil
  • 2 tbs adobo

Instructions

  • Cut chicken wings in 3 pieces and discard the tip. I usually rinse each wing after I cut it.
  • Place the wings in a bowl.
  • Strain the pickle juice in a large cup or over the wings with a strainer. Because the pickles are in the jar, this is helpful. I put the pickles back in the jar and used them to make fried pickles.
  • Cover and brine for 5 hours, 3 hours minimum. You can brine longer for a stronger pickle taste.
  • When ready, place wings on a paper towel lined large baking sheet and pat them dry with more paper towels.
  • Once done patting dry. Place in a dry large bowl.
  • Sprinkle olive oil and adobo. Mix well.
  • Air fry at 425º degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Turn the wings over, air fry another 25 minutes or until the wings are nice and golden.
